Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

- I've worn my Weekender for twelve years. I just replaced the battery myself (I know, I know, should have had it done by a pro). Anyway, now the indiglo doesn't work. Can it be repaired? A lot of sentimental value here. Thanks.

We totally understand the sentimental value, and while replacing the battery yourself is brave, it can sometimes affect the Indiglo function if the contacts aren’t aligned properly. We recommend bringing it to a certified Timex repair center or contacting Timex support to see if a repair is possible. Fingers crossed they can bring that glow back for you!
