There’s a lot that’s right
"There’s a lot that’s right about the way Timex has gone in the last few years. There’s a lot they could fix too. I haven’t really owned a Timex since the first days of indiglo back in the 80’s. My first recent purchase was their automatic titanium field watch. The case is too thick, the automatic movement required a lot of regulation to get anything like dependable time keeping and the buckle on the strap was very uncomfortable. This quartz version is thinner (but still thic!) and after my experience with the first buckle, I’ve resorted to replacing it with a deployment buckle. Works fine now but adds 16$ to the price. Keeps adequate time and the solar charging is as advertised. The quick-release strap is a nice touch. The lume is nothing to write home about, on either watch, but it’s ‘there’. Only thing I’d really work on is the case thickness. I own chronometers by Seiko and citizen with quartz calibers and they’re both thinner than these watches but, for a beater watch to go fishing with, it’s just the ticket."

I’ve tried some other solar watches and they don’t work that well especially when they’ve been out of light for a little while. "I am globally very satisfied with the Expedition Field Solar 41 mm. Pros: Accuracy (within 1 sec/day), light, easy to read, water resistant in my swimming pool, the stainless steel case and the Sapphire crystal seem pretty resistant to scratches. Cons: My (very sensitive) sensitive skin doesn't like the Eco-Friendly leather strap, so I'll replace it."
