Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

I was able to take out a couple of band links so it fits her well. The ONLY complaint at this time is that the calendar day of the month is too small and has a dark little hole to hide in so she cannot read it. However, her computer and the calendar on the wall can let her know what day it is so she is generally very happy with the new time piece."

I didn’t get what I had expected and I was never asked about the size, and I ended up returning it. There should be a differe part number if the size can be different. I ended up being charged for shipping which wasn’t fair. I would recommend Timex."
