Enhanced durability
Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

However, the expansion bands are not so easily fitted especially when the wrong information leaflet is sent along with the watch. - I have an old gold coloured Easy Reader and the strap is too tight - I'd like to buy another strap or links to make it larger. I have a 1 year old Two tone Easy Reader and the strap has broken twice. I'd like to get a new strap. I cannot determine how to use the Timex website to buy straps. Can you help?
