Mineral crystals use a similar material to windowpane glass and were developed for watches as a harder alternative to acrylic. Mineral crystals are still susceptible to scratches but less so than acrylic, however it is not possible to buff out these scratches as it is with acrylic. Mineral glass is not as shatter resistant as acrylic but does offer greater transparency and clarity. Due to their improved scratch resistance versus acrylic, and improved shatter resistance versus sapphire, mineral is often considered to be the best of both worlds as a crystal material.

"The first time I saw this watch, I was stunned that Timex had created such a timeless looking watch that had so many beautiful touches for such an affordable price! Aesthetically, it has a gorgeous dial, with gold stick indices and two sub-dials that subtly stand out. The bezel compliments the dial well, as do the gold crown, which features an intricate engraving, and the gold pushers. The case and bracelet also look great. In terms of comfort, butterfly clasp works great and the links really are easy to change. However, I found myself between two sizes and due to the butterfly clasp allowing for no adjustments and no half links included, I couldn't get the perfect fit. However, the fit isn't bad either and this would be my only complaint. In terms of functionality, its kept time great so far and the chronograph works exactly as you would want it to. While I wish the watch was automatic or manual, for the price and aesthetic, its totally acceptable that its quartz. Overall, its a great watch for the price and I constantly have received compliments on it with people asking me where I got it from."
